Overview

Request 903383 accepted

- Re-add 'sysvinit(network)' build dependency

- Use %set_permissions on path /var/spool/clientmqueue/ as well (boo#1187809)

- Update to pre version sendmail 8.17.1 (8.17.0.3)
* Deprecation notice: due to compatibility problems with some
third party code, we plan to finally switch from K&R
to ANSI C. If you are using sendmail on a system
which does not have a compiler for ANSI C contact us
with details as soon as possible so we can determine
how to proceed.
* Experimental support for SMTPUTF8 (EAI, see RFC 6530-6533)
is available when using the compile time option USE_EAI
(see also devtools/Site/site.config.m4.sample for other
required settings) and the cf option SMTPUTF8.
If a mail submission via the command line requires
the use of SMTPUTF8, e.g., because a header uses UTF-8
encoding, but the addresses on the command line are all
ASCII, then the new option -U must be used, and
the cf option SMTPUTF8 must be set in submit.cf.
Please test and provide feedback.
* Experimental support for SMTP MTA Strict Transport Security
(MTA-STS, see RFC 8461) is available when using
- the compile time option _FFR_MTA_STS (which requires
STARTTLS, MAP_REGEX, SOCKETMAP, and _FFR_TLS_ALTNAMES),
- FEATURE(sts), which implicitly sets the cf option
StrictTransportSecurity,
- postfix-mta-sts-resolver, see
https://github.com/Snawoot/postfix-mta-sts-resolver.git
* New ruleset check_other which is called for all unknown SMTP

Nah, you misunderstood. It is ok for sendmail to remove "sysvinit(network)". But busybox-links.spec needs to be edited to BuildRequire: util-linux-systemd to make up for what sendmail had gotten rid of. (busybox-links relied on sendmail pulling in u-l-s)

This one is responsible for the build-failure of busybox-links

Hmmm ... why is sendmail installed for build if busybox provides a sendmail builtin?

/home/abuild/rpmbuild/BUILDROOT/busybox-links-1.33.1-18.13.x86_64//usr/sbin/sendmail -> ../bin/busybox

The error at the end seems not to belong to sendmail

yet, as soon as I pull sendmail out of the staging and let busybox-links rebuild, it passes. The error moved from one staging to another together with sendmail.

Not saying that sendmail is the one at fault, but it's the one triggering it

sendmail dropped its sysvinit(network) BuildRequire (which pulled in -> wicked-service -> sysconfig-netconfig -> /bin/logger(util-linux-systemd), something that should have been in busybox-links.spec - hence the very obvious can't find busybox-links-util-linux-systemd.txt in the error log. You SUSE guys duke it out who gets to fix it :-D

Dr. Werner Fink's avatar

This BuildRequire does not work work on SLE-11 ... and why does a systemd service like wicked-service provide sysvinit(network) ... that is somehow strange as the service is simply network
