so OBS/signer will adjust to a different method? Or we simply no longer allow OBS to run with new gpg2 versions?
We have discussed this with release engineers and its safe to remove it in Factory since the signers are run in SLE and the support for v3 signatures was dropped in gpg2 version 2.1.0.
(Support for v3 sigs wasn't dropped, the files-are-digests patch should still apply cleanly.)
Just for the record: this does not hurt our OBS instances, as they run on SLE, but it means that OBS will no longer work on Tumbleweed.
Do we know if the Fedora project runs the OBS on SLE or Tumbleweed?
