elvigia wrote in rq 885301: "please ensure a full rebuild of all packages up the chain is performed". @dimstar in that case, I think a
wipebinaries
on openSUSE:Factory/pcre2 would help to that end.a wipebinaries would be about the worst thing to do - since pcre2 is in the distro bootstrap cycle; definitively NOT the way to go.
(let alone that it would not do what you would expect it to do; if it were not in the distro bootstrap cycle, it would simply rebuild pcre2 and then not rebuild anything else - Factory uses rebuild=local)
But I'll keep in mind to trigger rebuild-dep-chain pcre2 (triggers 2746 packages)
For arguments sake: is this also addressed together with upstream?
After all, we can't be the only distro seeing that issue
Unfortunately not, debian derived distros rename the symbols to something else.. PCRE2regcomp and so on.. upstream left the old names for compatibility BUT renamed everything with the prefix pcre2_. we only get ird of the old names to avoid disaster.
This even more so sounds like an upstream solution should be found
