I'm wondering whether it would be good to still get this into Leap 15.1, or if it would be better to stick to kile/KDE4 and kile5 there.
(would be good to have a decision especially in case it would get auto-forwarded by the bot...)

OTOH, from my POV we could also defer this for a while, I mainly submitted it now because of the delete request for kile in Factory.

This is a no-op - kile5 provides kile but doesn't Obsolete it. This means "zypper in kile" already installs kile 5.

Also, I don't think that an installed kile package would currently get updated to kile5.

Correct - that was the plan. kile5 is currently in beta so the stable version should be kept for now. @cgiboudeaux: Did you consider that? IMO the kile5 change should be delayed until that.

It's in legal queue, we can add a review to block the submission without blocking the legal team work. no objection.
