This breakage looks quite extensive, the package is likely unusable atm, and the package hasnt seen an update since 2014. Attempting to fix it will be difficult, the best I can offer atm is provided here: fix the missing build dependency and activating tests so it is visible to the wider community that this package is broken, and any package which uses testr for its test suite is likely also broken.

Good point, it really does not seem to work properly, some time should be invested in making it work, obviously I am not forwarding this to factory but it will be broken in d:l:py
Note tests also broken similarly on Python3, and see note on outdated request.
