why do we need the changes since d7f95b5? Which ones are important? if there is something important inside wouldn't it be good to convince upstream to create a new release?

I was hoping to get this merged for general cleanup purposes, but anyway here is the issue I filed upstream

As for important changes since d7f95b5, I documented that in the .changes file.

Thanks for creating this upstream issue.

If close config file after using it is the only change i would have proposed to add a patch for only this. Actually only now I saw that we use a _service file here which gets us a revision later than stable release already. Which means my point was not really valid.

Would you mind creating the submit request again? I think I should have accepted it.

Would you also be interested in becoming compton maintainer?
