I'm not familiar with C++, I'm just working on moving this to Python 3, but I'm happy to help out if required.

Me too. As far as I understood the issue ( https://github.com/gemrb/gemrb/issues/1496 ?) had been fixed via 0.9.1 release. And even 0.9.1.1 is available now so please try to update: https://github.com/gemrb/gemrb/releases/tag/v0.9.1.1
