• For the time-out issue we could ack and see if it does so in science too. We can fwd to Factory if it builds ok.
• Might as well use the with conditionals for DGMX_EXTERNAL_TINYXML2.
• It would be better to send the openmpi specific binary to the openmpi specific binary dir (/usr/lib[64]/mpi/gcc/openmpi[X]/bin), wouldn't it? May be it supports other openmpi flavours in the future.

Admittedly I do not know much about this specific pkg, so these are just minor suggestions.

For the timeouts I fear this is somehow related to the openmpi version, but this is just guessing.

There is definitely more work to do. I wanted to get this through the door as soon as possible, as currently the bundled muparser from this package in science breaks the proper muparser package ("have choice for pkgconfig(muparser2)").

Yes, timeouts started on science builds as well. Would you be ok if I turned off testing for openmpi flavours until this can be investigated further, so that we can submit to Factory without the sr getting declined?
