biosdevname in its simplest form takes an kernel name name as an
argument, and returns the BIOS-given name it "should" be. This is
necessary on systems where the BIOS name for a given device (e.g. the
label on the chassis is "Gb1") doesn't map directly and obviously to
the kernel name (e.g. eth0).

dvbstream can broadcast either a (subset of a) DVB transport stream or
a DVB program stream over a LAN using the rtp protocol. It attempts to
be compliant with RFCs 1889, 1890, 2038, and 2250. It can also dump the
stream to stdout, for example, for local software decoding when using
DVB cards without a hardware MPEG decoder.

DVBtune is a tuning application for DVB cards supported by the Linux
DVB driver.

The package includes two applications--dvbtune for command line tuning
of DVB cards and xml2vdr for converting dumped service information into
VDR's channels.conf format.

dvbtune has the option to dump the metadata from a DVB
transponder/multiplex into an XML file. This XML file is hopefully
self-explanatory and should be read in conjunction with the DVB-SI
standard (EN 300 468) available from www.etsi.org.

xml2vdr can convert this XML file into a "channels.conf" file suitable
for use with the VDR application.

GNU GRUB is a multiboot boot loader. It was derived from GRUB. It is an
attempt to produce a boot loader for IBM PC-compatible machines that
has both the ability to be friendly to beginning or otherwise
nontechnically interested users and the flexibility to help experts in
diverse environments. It is compatible with Free/Net/OpenBSD and Linux.
It supports Win 9x/NT and OS/2 via chainloaders. It has a menu
interface and a command line interface.

Memtest86 is an image that can be booted instead of a real OS. Once
booted, it can be used to test the computer's memory.

mkelfImage is a program that makes an ELF boot image for Linux kernel
images. The image should work with any i386 multiboot compliant boot
loader as well as with an ELF boot loader that passes no options. It is
compliant with the LinuxBIOS ELF booting specification or with the
Linux kexec kernel patch. Its key feature is, that nothing relies on
BIOS calls, but they are made when necessary. This is useful for
systems running LinuxBIOS.

This package contains the userland utilities to create and read
squashfs images.

Trusted GRUB is the continuation of the 1.0 GRUB series, introducing
support for Trusted Platform Modules. This means that it simply records
the configuration of the files used for booting in the TPM for later
verification.

An OpenSSL engine module built upon QAT (intel Quick Assist).

This package provides user space libraries that allow access to Intel(R)
QuickAssist devices for hardware-accelerated cryptography.
The QuickAssist APIs allow for finer control over the qat_4xxx devices
than the more general libkcapi.

QATzip is a user space library and command-line tool for file compression which builds on top of QAT (intel QuickAssist).

The virtual network kernel module provides the possibility to securely connect virtual
machines distributed to different physical machines as if the virtual machines
were located on a single physical network segment. The created virtual networks
are virtualized at the Ethernet layer.

The Gallium softpipe driver, built with the egl_xlib winsys layer and a thin state-tracker providing direct access to Gallium methods, for use with the Vgallium compositor application at present, and perhaps in the future other clients in need of raw Gallium access.

Libwww is a general-purpose Web API written in C for Unix and Windows (Win32). With a highly extensible and layered API, it can accommodate many different types of applications including clients, robots, etc. The purpose of libwww is to provide a highly optimized HTTP sample implementation as well as other Internet protocols and to serve as a testbed for protocol experiments. Libwww also supports HTTPS, through OpenSSL.

genext2fs is meant to generate an ext2 filesystem as a normal
(non-root) user. It doesn't require you to mount the image file
to copy files on it. It doesn't even require you to be the
superuser to make device nodes.
