File check_mk-systemd-socket-activation.README.SUSE of Package check_mk
With the introduction of systemd and its socket activation ability there is no need for running xinetd anymore to make the agent available to remote manitoring machines. To activate the agent (or the caching agent, respectively) simply enable and start the socket provided in the supplied .service and .socket files: systemctl enable check_mk-agent.socket systemctl start check_mk-agent.socket (replace "check_mk-agent" with "check_mk-caching-agent", if you use the caching agent) The drawback of this method is that systemd does not provide the security measures xinetd provided by its only_from directive. Please use the provided firewall profile to create rules limiting access to the socket.
