I landed on subbing this to G:A as it is an app that lives on gnomes gitlab, and have a wikipage on gnome + from what I understand is regarded as a "app for the future" - but the latter part I'm not convinced of yet. I do NOT recommend we forward this to factory any time soon, let upstream dust settle some more first. (They are very responsive though, got my patch merged in a few hours).
